Filming for The Son We Lost commenced in July 2020 amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. Since cameras and crew were not permitted to film on location at the hospital, the director worked as a one-person crew during production, but hired additional crew post-production. The post-production team consists of creators from various countries around the world.
